Edmontonia Model

Built more like a tank than a typical herbivore, Edmontonia was a heavily armoured dinosaur designed to withstand attacks from some of the Late Cretaceous's most dangerous predators. This 1:35 scale model captures that formidable appearance with an exceptionally detailed sculpt and realistic finish.

Its broad, low-slung body is covered in protective bony armour, with large spikes projecting from the shoulders and sides. The model also features a powerful beak, sturdy limbs and carefully textured skin, with subtle muscle definition and natural folds adding depth throughout the sculpt. The result is a convincing representation of an animal that looked remarkably different from the long-necked herbivores that shared its environment.

Edmontonia lived approximately 76–66 million years ago across what is now North America. Growing to around 6–7 metres long and weighing an estimated 3–4 tonnes, it was a substantial herbivore. Rather than relying on a tail club like some other ankylosaurs, its primary defence came from its heavily protected body and formidable shoulder spikes.

The arrangement of its armour is particularly interesting. Large plates protected vulnerable areas while the projecting spikes made it difficult for a predator to attack from the side. This provides a fascinating example of how different dinosaurs evolved specialised ways of surviving in the same prehistoric ecosystems.
